Join us off Madison’s capital square as we learn about archiving Wisconsin’s history.  The presentation will provide a brief overview of the 3-year National Historical Publications & Records Commission (NHPRC) grant currently underway at the Wisconsin Historical Society (WHS). Over the course of the grant, WHS is actively working to implement best practices and processes for managing electronic records at the agency level, establish a sustainable electronic records transfer management system to WHS, and provide access to the electronic records we collect. The presentation will cover the grant progress to date, including WHS collaboration with partner agencies, efforts to acquire and implement a digital preservation system, and the guidance documentation produced to assist with digitization and electronic records transfer.

Speakers:

Sarah Grimm is the Electronic Records Archivist for the Wisconsin Historical Society. She is currently in the middle of an NHPRC grant to increase the transfer of and access to state electronic records. Sarah is Co-Chair for the Council of State Archivists (CoSA) State Electronic Records Initiative (SERI) Education subcommittee as well as a member of the SERI Steering Committee. Sarah is also a graduate of Library of Congress’ Digital Preservation Outreach and Education (DPOE) training program.

Hannah Wang is the Project Archivist for the NHPRC-funded Wisconsin State Preservation of Electronic Records (WiSPER) Project at the Wisconsin Historical Society. She holds an M.S. in Information Science from UNC-Chapel Hill’s School of Information and Library Science.
