What do the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile, the sword from Chris Farley’s Beverly Hills Ninja movie, and a shawl worn by Abraham Lincoln while traveling to his inauguration have in common? They’re all housed at the Wisconsin State Archive Preservation Facility (SAPF)! The SAPF is operated by the Wisconsin Historical Society (WHS), whose mission is to connect people to the past by collecting, preserving, and sharing stories.

You are cordially invited to join the ARMA Madison Chapter for a guided tour followed by a discussion with the WHS Records Officer on records lifecycle management and stewardship of government records transferred to the WHS.

Opened in March 2018 and spanning over 188,000 square feet, the SAPF protects Wisconsin’s historical artifacts and archives, ensuring access for future reference and research. The state-of-the-art facility includes a controlled environment to maintain stable temperature and humidity, freezers, cold storage for film and color photographs, a conservation lab to repair artifacts, secure storage, and spaces for archival digitization projects.

Space is limited to the first 20 registrants. Meet at the SAPF by 1 PM on April 30. Parking is available in the visitor spots at the SAPF lot or street parking on Dickinson Street.
